Wild Beauty on the Lake Superior Shore
Sandstone cliffs, beaches, sand dunes, waterfalls, lakes, forest, and shoreline beckon you to visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Hiking, camping, sightseeing, and four season outdoor opportunities abound. The Lakeshore hugs the Lake Superior shoreline for more than 40 miles. Lake Superior is the largest, deepest, coldest, and most pristine of all the Great Lakes.
Forty miles of tree lined roads and sandy beaches.
From the top of West Bluff it seemed as if you could see forever...and ever 360 degrees
Highway US 41 starts here and runs 1990 miles to Miami, FL
Beauty of all kinds.
One of the features and a "Pictured Rock" is Miner's Castle. "Pictured Rocks" is a mosaic of colors, textures and sights. Miner's Castle is one of the only pictured rocks you can see from the shores. To see the Pictured Rock you need to Kayak, rent a pontoon or take a cruise.
You might think you were in the Bahamas
Yes, there were people, but not many and this August is the height of the tourist season
It was cool but not cold.
and beauty everywhere
We stayed on land, but we really saw a lot and had a fun time
Waterfalls
Lighthouses
and of course, ship wrecks
I am having trouble finishing this park. It is so beautiful and there is so much so show and tell, I will get back to this later.
