LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

On 30th Park in the 14th State was Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site in Little Rock, Arkansas.

U.S. SCHOOL DESEGREGATION
The school desegregation crisis at Little Rock Central High School put on trial America's commitment to its founding principles.  It was the first significant test of the 1954 Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Board of education that "separated educational facilities are inherently unequal."  The successful outcome affirmed the basis of that ruling---the 14th Amendent's promise of "equal protection of the laws."

Student still attend Central High School, which is closed to park visitors.

The visitors center is across the street from the school.  Other than being at a place where a significant event took place in our history there isn't much here that you can't find on the internet.  I have to admit I did get a few chills from being at a location where so much happened.  I was twelve when this happend so I really only remember what I had retained from school.  President Eisenhower, Governor Faubus, Life Magazine and Mike Wallace are all familiar names associated with Central High School.
Indeed a HISTORIC SITE!!
